REVIEWS | ||
“Lynn Spurgat as Norma....delivered a rousing bel canto finale of Act One of Vincenzo Bellini's Norma with most so-called cuts opened. The two sopranos created a particular frisson when they joined voices in the cadenza at the end of "Adalgisa. Alma, costanza...Ah! si fa core, e abbraciami".....Spurgat's "Tremi tu? E per chi?" and "Vanne, si: mi lascia, indegno" were fittingly fiery and she interpolated a formidable high D near the end. I rather hoped that all three singers would go for the D....but, (they) were gracious and left the high note for the protagonist alone.”
“Norma was the beautiful dramatic soprano, Lynn Spurgat, whose rich tones, beautiful artistry, and accurately sung fioratura, in this, her first ever Norma, (including the high D in the trio) made it thrilling to hear this truly wonderful pure voice.”
“In a stellar performance... Ms. Spurgat stole the show with her engaging style and mesmerizing vocals...(Ms. Spurgat) offered a chillingly powerful and perfect performance.”
“Soprano, Lynn Spurgat, quite a finished young artist, was particularly endearing both for her diminutive, appealing physical presence and for her creamy, soothing voice...This last duet{Così fan tutte}...was notable for the exquisite, even sisterly blending the two women achieved.”
